We pray that the Lenten Season at Cookeville First UMC is a deeply meaningful time that prepares you for the joy of Easter. Please look below for an overview of our events and opportunities this year.

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…he was peirced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
HOLY WEDNESDAY
April 5, 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Holy Wednesday study and worship experience in the sanctuary features Jesus’s humble sacrificial life and passion on the cross as the source of atoning sacrifice for sin as a healing balm for our woundedness.
MAUNDY THURSDAY
April 6, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary
On Maundy Thursday we remember the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples. We recall the holy words, “This is my body, given for you,” and “this is my blood poured out for the forgiveness of your sins.” Through this sacrament, we share the opportunity to experience God’s grace and reflect on the gifts of Jesus Christ.
GOOD FRIDAY TENEBRAE SERVICE
April 7, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary
On Good Friday, we come together to remember Christ on the cross and to set in our hearts a reminder of the cost of crucifixion. This is a service of monologue, scripture, and music intended to bring about a true appreciation of the glory of Easter morning.
COOKEVILLE FIRST UMC KIDS EASTER EGG HUNT

EASTER SUNDAY CELEBRATION
Sunday April 9

Join us for a full morning of celebration worship – two services:
8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary
Adult Lenten Study: "Savior", by Reverend Magrey deVega.
There are two different opportunities for you to participate in this study:
- Sunday mornings beginning February 26 from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m., in Wesley Chapel.
- Wednesday evenings March 1, 8, 22, and 29 from 6-7p.m., in the Freeman Building B210.
