Composer's Weekend

Sunday, February 23, 2020, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Location: Sanctuary, 165 E. Broad St, Cookeville, TN US 38501

Join us as composer Mark Miller makes his return visit to FUMC!  He will lead Vespers with the Youth on Saturday evening, work with all of the youth and adult choral groups and ensembles, lead in worship on Sunday morning and be in a concert of his music on Sunday evening.

Mark has led the Youth and Young Adults at Music Week, Lake Junaluska, several times over the past few years and has proven to be a favorite of participants in his groups.  Marks music is extremely popular and well received in the United Methodist Church and his work is published in THE FAITH WE SING and in the United Methodist publication WORSHIP AND SONG. He believes passionately that music can change the world.  Every Sunday Mark’s music is sung in churches throughout the country encouraging people young and old that we are all part of the beloved community and that everyone is a child of God.

Mark is Associate Professor of Church Music and Composer In Residence at Drew University in Madison NJ, and is a Lecturer in the Practice of Sacred Music at Yale University. He also is the Minister of Music of Christ Church in Summit, New Jersey, and Composer-In-Residence for the Harmonium Choral Society (harmonium.org). He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Yale University and his Master of Music in Organ Performance from Juilliard.  You can find out more about Mark and his music at markamiller.com.
