Youth Choir Tour 2018

Cookeville FUMC Youth Choir Tour 2018 will begin very early on the morning of May 29 as the group of Youth Choir members and chaperones depart at 6 a.m. via chartered bus  on the 2018 Youth Choir Tour to Washington, DC.

 The group of 33 singers has been working since August on their concert presentation for this year’s tour.  In addition to a couple of fundraising events, the group has participated in worship services on a regular basis, Advent and Christmas services, Lenten and Easter services, Gospel Night Concert, and a Youth led Discovery Weekend.

Each year Youth Choir Tour involves a series of performances, a mission or service project, visits to historical sights, and college campuses.  Previous Youth Choir Tours have taken the group to Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Dallas, Orlando, Charleston, Savannah, Washington, DC, and Indianapolis.

This year’s tour program includes several choral numbers including music by Mark Miller, arrangements of gospel tunes and a drama presentation from Cotton Patch Gospel by Tom Key and Russell Treyz.  The group of 51 youth and adults will participate in a service project at

Park View Community Mission in Lynchburg, VA on Tuesday, May 29.   Performances include Fort Hill UMC, Lynchburg; The Kensington at Falls Church, VA; Virginia Mennonite Retirement Center, Harrisonburg, VA; and First United Methodist Church, Elizabethton, Tennessee.

The group will return to Cookeville on the evening of June 3 for a Homecoming Concert at Cookeville First United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary.
